- A bicycle store owner changed the name of his corporation and the Workers' Compensation Board refused to honor it. He was assessed a fine. We were able to work through the situation with the Board and get the fine removed.
- A New Jersey IT company had an employee do some work for a sister company in New York. There was a great deal of confusion about whether the New Jersey workers' compensation policy covered the employee as he was working in New York. We were able to successfully show that the New Jersey policy would appropriately cover the employee and saved the company from receiving a fine from the Workers' Compensation Board.
- A New York City small business laid off all employees and become a sole proprietorship. Because of this, the owner canceled his workers' compensation coverage. The owner began to receive notices that he owed penalties because he did not carry workers' comp insurance. Ultimately, the Workers' Compensation Board sent the matter to a collection agency. Faced with the increased pressure, the owner decided it was time to contact an attorney. We negotiated with the collection agency and Workers' Compensation Board, and got the $36,000 fine reduced to $2,000.
- We represented a California nonprofit company. They were exempt from workers' compensation coverage because of the rules and regulations that specifically apply to nonprofits. We were successfully able to remove the entire penalty they received from the Workers' Compensation Board.
